Great Nodden is a large hill on the north west edge of Dartmoor. The river Lyd flows to the east of the hill and there is a path up to the summit of the hill with fine views. Great Nodden is on open moorland and the nearest car parking is at Nodden Gate. There is space for a few cars at Nodden Gate which can be reached along a lane from a turning on the A386 road by The Fox And Hounds Hotel, which is about 9 miles from Tavistock on the A386. Note that the surface of the lane is poor quality with pot holes.
