Whitchurch Down is an area of common land on the western edge of Dartmoor near Tavistock. The middle part of the common is used by Tavistock Golf Club, but there are a number of paths on the common, including a path around the entire common. There are fine views looking across to Dartmoor. Whitchurch Down can be reached on the B3357 Tavistock to Princetown road. On this road, a couple of miles after Tavistock turn right onto a lane which leads to Whitchurch Down. There are a number of layby type car parks dotted around the common.
