Information image
The Yealm River in West Devon reaches the sea in a wide curving estuary. There is good walking from Noss Mayo along Passage Road along the south bank of Newton Creek to meet the Yealm estuary and then a path along the east edge of the Yealm River up to Gara Point with fine views. There is a small beach called Cellar Beach before Gara Point. There is a ferry in summer across the Yealm River. Noss Mayo is about 10 miles from Plymouth. Take the A379 out of Plymouth and turn onto the B3186 at Yealmpton. Follow this road to Newton Ferrers and drive through Newton Ferrers to Bridgend and follow the sign to Noss Mayo. There is a small car park in the creek at Noss Mayo though note this will be underwater at high tide.
