Lydford is a small village on the west edge of Dartmoor. There is a small medieval castle by the village which can be visited. There are also paths to visit earthwork remains of a Norman castle and Saxon defensive banks. There is a pub and a public car park opposite the pub. Lyford is about 8 miles from Tavistock on the A386. On the A386 just after the Dartmoor Inn, turn left where signposted to Lydford.
