Lydford Forest is a large woodland area on the west of Dartmoor. There is a woodland trail which leads down to the valley of the River Lyd. Lydford Forest is about 5 miles north of Tavistock on the A386. Take the A386 from Tavistock and after about 5 miles look out for a left turning to Lydford village. In the village turn right by the war memorial and follow this lane until a signposted entrance to Lydford Forest. There is a car park and picnic area.
